Gmail offers you 15GB of free storage that you can share between Gmail, Drive, Docs, Contacts and other Google products. Google Photos previously was not included in this free limit. But starting June 1, 2021, new photos and videos uploaded to Google Photos will be counted within this 15GB limit as Google updates its storage policy.

How to Free up Gmail Storage Space?

If you have received a notification on low storage space, you can free up your storage space by deleting unnecessary files from your Gmail, Drive or Photos. To delete unwanted files from Google drive and Photos:

1. Login to Drive or Photos

2. Select all your unnecessary files.

3. Right click on any of the files and click on Remove.

4. The files are now moved to the Trash folder. Go to the folder and select the files again.

5. Right click on the files and click on the Delete Forever option.

Your files are now deleted forever and the storage space held by those files is freed up. 

You can also delete unnecessary files from your Gmail inbox. To do so, login to your Gmail account and go to your search box. In the box, type – Larger: 5m. This query will search for any files larger than 5MB. Now you can delete those emails or files if you don’t need anymore.
